Secrest Organics – Covert Farms
Some laughed when George Covert bought this desert-like piece of land back in 1959 – but he, his son, and eventually grandson have grown Covert Farms into a cornerstone in organic farming. The family name is well known across numerous provinces with restaurateurs and grocers alike.
After three generations of Coverts managing 130+ acres of ground crops, in 2014 Gene Covert (third generation farmer) turned his focus on winemaking and leased organic food growing to Secrest Organics at Covert Farms. Terry, owner of Secrest Organics, has been leading our organics production for a number of years; we consider Terry and his family to be part of the extended Covert family.
Today Covert Farms remains a leader in quality organic fruit and vegetable growing in the Okanagan through Secrest Organics – a major shipper of fresh field tomatoes, sweet onions, sweet corn, muskmelons and table grapes. Secrest Organics at Covert Farms supplies fruit stands and major wholesalers in western Canada, while continuing the tradition of offering fresh produce to the retail public. Our goal is to support a healthy community and help grow agri-tourism in the South Okanagan.
