Produce Update-May 6 2015

Stefan: The sunny days and warm temperatures here in the Vancouver area have given Two EEs Farm the ability to harvest lettuce this week. We should see their romaine, green leaf and red leaf in stock by Friday and ready to ship Saturday. California stone fruit is being harvested this week and by mid next week we should be seeing some good volume on nectarines and peaches. Sizing will be smaller for the first harvests and then get bigger as we move towards the BC crop.Annie: Fair Trade Ataulfo and Tommy Atkins are in good supply, and taste awesome. Avocado will be limited for the beginning of the week. Siri spinach is here, but all bulk packs of baby spinach are still short due to mildew pressure. Agrofrescos broccoli and celery are abundant, Cali celery still gapping. Beautiful Asparagus from all locations! California yellow potatoes are coming in now, just as Manitoba is finishing up. BC bulk beets are done-thanks for the support! We have Nash’s bulk beets from Washington this week and good selection of overwinter root crops from California farms. Strawberries are coming in steady but sell out fast, volumes will not improve until Watsonville heats up a few more degrees.
