Produce Update-May 13 2015

Stefan: Melons, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Zucchini, Eggplant, Beans, Peppers… We have solid supply and great quality. With California coming on now prices are great for promotions. Look for the transition north with great deals from Mexico and a little stronger on the new crop coming from California. Divine Flavor table grapes are in house now and looking great. This is going to be a great program from Divine as they now have 13 different varieties coming on that they have been testing in their fields for a few years now. California stone fruit is still limited with cooler temperatures slowing down the harvest. We will have a nice selection by the weekend for sizing and variety.Jodi: So apparently when I am away for a few weeks I come back to there being next to nothing as far as citrus and potatoes go. Its transition season for spuds – new crop California spuds are slowly trickling on to the market starting with fingerlings of all kinds at good prices! We still have some storage PEI potatoes and they’re holding up beautifully. Citrus is a bit boring right now with just valencias, lemons and grapefruits. We do have a small stock of white grapefruits in if you want to try something new though! They’re a bit less tangy than the pink guys, but just as tasty and high in vitamin c and antioxidants!
